Rewards NOT penalties

The wheelie-bin fiasco. Can the geniuses of the council, who make unenforceable rules and penalise those who are created guilty' and fined for their offence, put on their thinking caps? Why not take the Reward route?. Offer £1 for every fully filled black bag received at collection points - and you will have queues of bright young kids collecting and bagging as much garbage they can carry. Would it work? Of course it would work! But, of course, the naysayers and ever vigilant bin-men will fall out of the woodwork bleating 'child labour!" 'H&E regulations', 'Crazy idea!' Try it. You know it makes sense...

There has been a Rewards scheme running for several years.https://www.ealing.gov.uk/info/201167/rubbish_and_recycling/1698/residents_rewardsWe've moved on from just black sacks and the system has gone back to the separating that used to be done when bottles were returnable.  More can be recycled but unfortunately less reused as it used to be.  Those milk bottles could be reused up to 10 times and we got a kerbside delivery and collection!Many more people now buy on credit and buy goods from countries where the working conditions wouldn't be acceptable in this country a lot of the time because they are cheap with the attitude when something breaks that "It doesn't matter it was only cheap."  Only it does because we also have to pay for the disposal. That leads to a lot more waste.
