Neighbours ran after the lorry yesterday in order to try and get the wheelies they wanted too.  They do have space as they have side access to the garden - and they also have a lot of people living there.  This is something that would have been found out WITH a consultation. We still have many bins sitting in the road because the houses DO NOT have enough space for these things. It really does.  Instead of sorting out the problem properties everybody has been given these things which actually take a lot more than twice as much waste as many people were making.  A guaranteed way to increase waste or for people to not be bothered which bin to put anything in!  They are so difficult to manoeuvre in a small space that this is likely to increase that problem. Someone is ticking boxes on one page but busily creating worse problems elsewhere...  but hey that's probably someone else's department. If we just sit here and accept all ridiculous executive decisions we could end up in a worse situation ourselves. If we concrete over everything then we could have worse flooding when we have the massive downpours that we now seem to have.  The Department of the Environment changed the rules on concreting gardens because they now spend so much time and money dealing with flooding.  Just imagine how dreadful it would be to suffer like the people in Somerset with the disruption to life and business and losing so many irreplaceable possessions and having to dry out your house for months and months.
