Fly Tip Hot Spot

It would seem that Ealing council has no desire to deal with fly tipping at our local hot spot for some reason. Locals are now getting very used to the free rubbish collection service the council provides courtesy of the contractractors it uses to clear fly tips. So much for cost effective use of our council tax money. Does anybody have any examples where Ealing has taken action to catch fly tip offendors and stopped people from fly tipping?

The soft targets get a lot of publicity and as they say any publicity is good publicity.  I think this has happened when sub-contracted companies were involved.  Serial fly-tippers will eventually get caught.  There are an increasing number of CCTV cameras and neighbours get fed up with their neighbourhoods being constantly trashed by an anti-social minority.

It should be easy to recognise some fly tippers. Set up facial recognition cameras. Set up a temporary control centre for these cameras. Put staff in to run it 24 hours a day. As you say its easier to target soft.

Good news about the A40. The truck was abandoned and has since been removed- there is still a fly tip at the location which has been reported but will need some assistance from TfL to partially close lane 1 to facilitate removal of the fly tip. Sadly I believe its cheaper to clear a fly tip rather than take an offender to court or employ a person to scroll through hours of CCTV to see a person fly tipping, then to try and ID that individual which may be difficult. Hence why “soft targets “ such as motorists going into box junctions or an elderly lady pouring a coffee down the drain are so much more easy to fine and get a quick and instant result.

People naturally throw things down. Fly tipping is new normal. A while ago I was in my car with my wife and she said look at that toilet. I looked around for a public toilet. What it was there was a toilet and cistern by a litter bin. The thing was it was in a shopping area. I remember that message of old KEEP BRITAIN TIDY.

I keep seeing discarded protective gloves in the street.  This is really gross - who on earth thinks that this is acceptable?

Some antisocial gits seem to think that because the council tips are closed that it's ok to just dump their detritus wherever they wish and that it then becomes someone else's problem.Either you are that type of git or you are not. No mercy if they are found.

All residents need to be reminded that wheelie bins should not be left on the pavement.  We definitely need the full width of the pavements to walk along now that we have to distance ourselves.  Why not ask for a smaller wheelie bin too.  I've seen more around so they must exist (despite those earlier denials)!

Greenford Football Ground UB6 8GA is sadly blighted by fly-tipping devils. You glimpse it off the A40 just before arriving Eastbound at the Greenford junction. There is a big sign there for London Tigers. I saw a big waste clearance truck there on Friday, a man at his dirty work. 101 told me flatly they wouldn't send anyone to investigate.I don't know if it's tragic or comic that the Googla Maps image for Greenford Football Ground is a huge pile of building waste.

I am getting rather annoyed with the surge in fly tipping in the borough. I am getting many requests from all over Ealing asking me to help. One particular hotspot, by Fordhook Avenue, I have been pressing to get enforcement action. There is a Polish saying 'like flies in tar' regarding the speed of action. I don't understand why the council doesn't invest £5-10k (didnt they just add £40m into reserves?) into mobile equipment. Catch a few fly tippers, hit them in their pockets and/or with court action, they will soon think twice (hopefully). Ealing council and its partners could do a lot more to reduce fly tipping,they have the power to deal with this ever increasing problem but will they ?

I would be very happy if the Council did take action against a constant fly-tipper. It is CHISWICK FENCING.COM who chose to use the Council garage area to the rear of 41 – 53 GIFFORD GARDENS W7 to dispose of rubbish which they have already charged  their customers to remove. They use the site as their personal dumping ground. I can only see the fly-tipping situation getting worse so would welcome a direct email address toreport direct to the Council enforcement team rather than the rubbish removal team.

Exactly what I was thinking.Now that rules have changed to make it easier for the council to issue fines for fly tipping, perhaps this might become the next cash cow for them...

The Council are very quick to set up cameras in order to issue PCNs to drivers who stop to drop off passengers at Ealing Broadway station.I sometimes wonder on what planet our "representatives" live.Running local authority services should be a simple practical exercise.Not a laboratory for social engineering.

The trouble sometimes is that when you report things to the Council you don't necessarily hear anything further about it.The Council is perfectly capable of setting up CCTV.  In the past there have been pictures on the internet of people dumping rubbish where they shouldn't.  There is another website where people can report  anonymously and that is www.fixmystreet.com  This puts the reporting in public view.  You can also then check when something was reported - and you will be asked for feedback.  Neighbours can also see that a report has been made.  I am not sure that there is a feedback system from the Council and the mapping system for plotting the exact position of the fly-tipping is easier to use than whatever I saw the Council last using.  In actual fact some Councils now use www.fixmystreet.com instead of creating their own system.There are very hefty fines for fly-tipping - and the law has now changed to make it easier for Councils to fine people.

David, people have been reporting the fly tip to the council at this location at least 10 years. But the council seems content to keep using the contractors to clear the rubbish 3 or 4 times a week. No desire to take further action to catch the offendors....

Is the hot spot on public or private land? It sounds like it's public land if the Council contractors clear it.  We have a similar sounding problem in West Ealing. I think you need to contact your local councillors and ask them to take this up with Council's environment team who should be tackling fly tipping problems.
