It's not about politics, it's not about being left wing or right wing. The sad truth is that the people running Ealing council could not do a better job of ruining our lovely borough even if they tried. I have not met a single person in favour of wheelie bins in Ealing (I'm sure a few exist, but none that I have met in person). I have not met a single person in favour of the residential skyscraper monstrosities routinely approved by our local planning authorities. Why is Ealing borough so strongly pushing through these deeply undemocratic and unpopular measures? I can think of no logical, reasonable explanation so I'll utter a guess: corruption. We know Julian Bell pulled strings to grant himself some fancy council paid housing property when he himself owns a £1M house in the borough. We know that Julian Bell and his gang of 6 people from the Ealing planning department are 'invited' every year by property developers to the annual Mipim conference in Cannes at a yearly cost approaching £100,000. We know that the 'waste management' industry has always been plagued by corruption. With people like those involved, is it a stretch to think that money has changed hands and kickbacks have been paid?
