Ealing Cinema

Does anyone know when works are due to start as it would be nice to have a cinema back in Ealing

The Land Securities plans have been around for quite some time now.It's pretty ridiculous that a town with a heritage and a strong connection to  film studio hasn't had a cinema for such a long time and that the site has been left in a prime location for no good reason!Quite surprised the 'travelers' haven't set up camp in there yet and claimed it as their own.

Maybe not a lifetime without a cinema but certainly heading towards a generation.

Work won't be starting any time soon. Despite the positive noises from the council they still haven't completed all of the compulsory purchases and negotiations with adjacent landlords that are required for work to be planned in detail, let along start.Like the town centre redevelopment the timeline for completion is now looking closer to 2020/2021.

Hi OliverI have been chasing this and trying to get a timetable for work to start etc..This is the latest info I have got from Ealing Council (today)''In advance of construction work, hoardings have been put up which show the proposed Filmworks development.  Land Securities have been in negotiation with the owners of the remaining sites for land needed and with the council regarding the programme for the development.'' I am awaiting Land Securities to provide update which I hope they will do soon.Having just been to the cinema (and once again spent money outside the borough) I like many others am very keen to see Ealing have its own cinema asap.
