Ealing Hospital

Such a pity to see Ealing Hospital being run down like it is. Ealing Hospital is a comparatively modern hospital with quite large surrounding grounds and has the potential to be an excellent hospital. I think much of the criticism over the years has been exagerated and been given greater publicity than the comments of those that have expressed satisfaction.

Moorfields is of course just a short trip on the Metropolitan Line with one change from Northwick Park or Harrow and takes a very short time.Unlike the journey from Ealing,Acton or Southall which can take hours.Precisely why the outstation specialists were located to Ealing.

I am worried that the Moorfields Eye Clinic will be designated to be closed next. Long trek for us octogenarians to get a bus from Kings Cross Station to the Moorfields in the City. Mini cab fare way out of reach for pensioners. So what do we do ? Resign ourselves to losing our sight I suppose !

Mark,Spot on. These closures are part of the "Shafting a Healthier Future" plan. This wasn't about medical, demographic or geographic information. It was merely an estate management plan. Some hospitals balanced their budgets and other had been recently rebuilt and carried PFI debt. They couldn't close the latter so they wished to sell off the former for housing. Fast forward and we find almost every hospital has a debt so let's close the lot eh? just to be consistent. Shouldn't have said that. The numpties in charge might just do it.

Some appointments are now up to 9 months to a year from initial consultations.Apparently, ( according to staff acquaintances ) everything is being left in turmoil and hived off to Northwick Park.Some clinics and services cannot cope and are being deprived of resources.As a comparison those referred to Kensington and Chelsea are being seen within 3 to 4 weeks.Ealing Hospital is a much better Hospital than it was 15 years ago but this hacking of services and barmy relocation of services which bears no relation to local demographics and transport links is completely barmy as is selling off NHS sites.  When they are gone it will be unaffordable  to replace and impossible to locate in the community.
