Wickes clean up in South Ealing
For a while it looked as though a third-world shanty town was coming to South Ealing as the Wickes building store car park gained a large wooden blockhouse housing a cafe, Practical Car and Van Rental installed two storey container/portacabins and offices, and even a local gardener create a storage/office compound. However, it has ALL GONE. Overnight the giant shed housing the cafe has become a caravan and the gardener has gone and the Practical Car and Van Rental trucks are no longer cluttering up the back streets of South Ealing. Who do we have to thank for this sanity? NOT the Council apparently, instead a group of senior corporate managers were not happy with the image that this gave their store on a local visit and so curtailed the "freelance" shanty-town space rental that the local managers who-never-come-out-of-their-office and discipline any staff who interrupt their other activities....!
