Local estate agents

I need to get my house valued as I want to sell it later this year.Can anyone please recommend a good local estate agent?  I know it's a bit of a minefield, but any advice would be much appreciated.Thanks.

Having both bought and sold locally within the last year I can recommend the Estate Agent we used to sell our property, Doyles based in Hanwell. The were pro-active and professional throughout.Our sellers Estate Agent, a local independent based in Greenford, however were a nightmare.

Long time since I've moved house but the lesson I learned over several moves was always go local and independent.

Well said SK, Grimshaw been around years so obviously a reputable company. Whats with Foxtons poncey showrooms & cars, we are paying for that.Purple Bricks. Sound good & I might try them with my place, apparently cut out the unnecessary, middle men etc

Grimshaws in Ealing Common. Old fashioned, in a good way. I.e. not wide boys and shysters. Not Foxtons.

As its free and they want your business, use as many as you like to get a good idea of value and their costs. (sold with Tuffin and Wren years ago and had good service)Also think about online agents such as Tepilo (Sarah Beeny's baby)...if have a good idea of your property value, and you don't mind showing buyers around yourself, you will save a lot of money on London prices!
