Parking Renewal

I live in Zone RR and my permit expires on 4th May but I haven't received a parking renewal reminder, I'm pretty sure that I'm registered. When I go on the councils online renewal site I don't know what my PIN might be, I press the 'Request' button but it just says: "Email not sent. There are emails already waiting to be sent to the email address stored against the entered permit number. If you have more than one permit with the same email address registered, you will only be able to request a PIN number per permit every 24 hours."I haven't previously requested anything and don't know why any emails should not have been received, any ideas, sorry for long message.

I still have some unused undated original visitor parking permits, to be displayed inside the windscreen, which I have to assume are still valid as I have not been informed otherwise.

OK, thanks Lee, I have now called them and am awaiting the call back.Before I've even had a chance to send this, they have called back instantly with my PIN nos, two cars. Now that's good service.Have gone through and now all sorted, thanks all for your help.

There should be 7 days grace from the last permit, call them up (all automated) leave your details and they should call you back, it's what I ended up having to do after sent emails for the last 3 weeks, all of which were unanswered!So much for the reply within 5 working days for emails and 10 working days for written correspondence.They had my email but as my wife's vehicle was registered to that, apparently the same email address for 2 cars doesn't work.

It is actually a breach of discriminatory laws and guidance advice from Central Government to force a single system onto people. There is supposed to always be an alternative form of contact..and a name on all notices.There is a campaign - Keep Me Posted- And they have the correct statistics that show that a huge percentage of individuals do not have SAFE internet access.http://www.keepmeposteduk.comFor the Council to suggest you get an email address and use a "friend,  external computer, internet cafe to carry out a financial transaction flies in the face of all advice given for protecting ones security.This is in particular very difficult for elderly and those who are not computer savvy who are currently being ostracised from society.Councils have been reminded again and again of their duty to citizens but have simply paid lip service to this and made it very difficult and expensive do things by other means.What is wholly unsatisfactory is that they have not got a system that even works with all the computer operating systems.The Council Website does not work properly with most Apple OS systems and none of it's smartphone services work with Windows phones.Tiny sole trader businesses can manage this even with a tiny amount of capital, but Councils, with ample resources cannot manage even this.And not one politician or officer will step up to the breach and either take this on and sort it or admit their complete inept ability to manage.

What do I do now the permit has expired, can I park in one of the 1 hour spots and will I be ok there? I'm now on working day nine since I asked for my PIN & registered my email address.

I too am in CPZ RR and received the same letter this morning, and like everyone else all I want to do is pay my dues. I do it for garden recycling successfully, so why make parking so difficult? I assume that when I arranged my initial permit I included an email address.  Phone the council and you will not be able to talk to anyone about it. Grrrrrr

Thanks for all your help. I registered my email address with them last week and also asked for a PIN to be sent separately. I've not heard anything yet as it is only seven days, I know what they are like. However this morning Thursday a letter from them has dropped through my door saying they don't have my email address so they can not remind me and I must register on the site to get a reminder & PIN, why not give me my PIN while writing to me, is it that hard?

If you're being told to start over again it's just a way of conning you out of more money as New permits cost more than renewals:https://www.ealing.gov.uk/info/201198/residents_permits/2044/resident_parking_permit_pricesAlso second cars have seriously increased in cost too.Great stealth increase's and lack of renewal notices lines the pockets of the council very well.

Definitely email them and sort this immediately. Earlier this year I found out my permit expired 4 months prior! The council ceased sending reminders via post but also never reminded me by email. I only realised it was expired when all of a sudden we started getting parking tickets (4 month grace period or lazy wardens suddenly replaced with zealots?)When I tried to renew I got the same stupid message you're seeing (emails shouldn't wait anywhere, their system is stuffed!). It took a couple of weeks for their technical people to come back to me saying that I could NOT renew my permit and had to apply for a new one. In the meantime I got MORE parking tickets and when I contested these apparently "waiting to here back from YOU the council as to HOW can I renew my permit" is not good enough, in fact they just ignored my appeal reason and just said "declined, pay up".In summary, act now. Their tech team is very slow and might say you need to start over again. Their technical incompetence is no reason not to fine you.PS I recently read of a local (can't remember name) who took it all the way to court over a PCN fine he received after he didn't get a renewal reminder, claimed he'd received renewal reminder letters for 15 years via post just fine but never got one this year (cos council cancelled post and only does via email now). Council played their usual line "your responsibility to renew" but judge sided with the resident saying he'd been reminded for 15 years via post and could reasonably expect to continue to reminded.

Just read they give you 7 days grace. I emailed the parking services email address and they sent the pin by email last time. Probably best to get sorted as the appeal process is painful. I am sure the moped they deploy 15 mins before the start time of CPZ will have you at top of list if permit not sorted!

Emailparkingservices@ealing.gov.ukAsking for a PIN and saying what has happened. Say that you want a renewal reminder and you will get one by email. Its only by registering this way that you get a reminder. It says that somewhere on the website but I cannot find it anymore. It worked for me. Good luck
