Garming for Europe

I'm having to drive from Dunkirk to The Hague in March and then again from Santander to Mojacar later in the year (scared witless!!) I have quite a basic model of Garmin and this may be a very silly question but if I order the software online for Europe, is it easy to install or would I be better off using a road atlas? I'm good at map reading. :)Thanks

Not knowing how old your existing unit is,it may be better to buy a new satnav that comes with uk and western Europe maps as standard.I would recommend the tom tom 5 inch screen,its on amazon at £74.99  was £129.99  as per moneysavingexpert.That tom tom satnav advance lane guidance which is excellent,tells you what lane to be in in advance,very useful.Good luck with your travels.

I suggest it would be better to check the Garmin website for availability and compatibility of European maps for your particular model - but if OK downloading and transferring on to your device should be straightforward - just follow the on-line instructions.Despite being a reasonably competent map reader myself I still find using a SatNav abroad is far less stressful.  Even if you take a wrong turn, no panic, it will reroute you back on track.If you have passenger map reader with you fine.
