Junction of Courtfield Gardens and Argyll Road

Does anyone know what on earth is going on with this junction?? The pavements on each corner have been widened ( as around lots of areas of Ealing ) - resulting in traffic turning left or right onto Argyll Road, being reduced to one lane only. There are now tailbacks almost to Drayton Green which is obviously affecting the E1 and E11. Are there plans for traffic control measures, eg a roundabout? If things are left as they are more traffic will be forced up alternative streets, eg Highview Road/Sutherland Road and I fear the result will be more accidents not less. If anyone has any information on what is going on I'd really appreciate it!  Thanks

I too would love to know the rationale behind this. The only benefit I can see is that it makes it a smaller gap for pedestrians to cross the junction (but only marginally), but the implications for traffic are terrible. Is there anywhere where you can find out who instigated this and why? Seems utterly brainless to me.

It slows my journey to work. whilst I could see some logic in perhaps narrowing the exit onto argyle road. I wonder at the cost and whether there could have been better things to spend money on. If someone is turning right onto argyle road it causes quite a queue at times. so more fumes into the air as a result.

You oretty much have worked it out for yourself - In my humble opinion  (seemingly yours too) this is a ridiculous scheme.Apparently in the interest of pedestrian safety!!Traffic now belts up my road asd aratrun is created.TFL & Ealing council are anti car
