Suggestions for buying a wooden bike shed

I'm looking to buy a wooden bike shed for my front garden to store our (not very valuable, 2nd hand) bikes.B&Q , Wickes and lots of others sell them online for £150ish but they get very bad reviews.Has anybody bought one elsewhere for under £200ish and been happy with the shed they received?

Hmm.On rereading this, perhaps the sentence "No outbuilding on land forward of a wall forming the principal elevation" DOES include the front garden.  I initially took this to mean any boundary wall - not the wall of the house.

I think the whole debate about planning permission is a red herring.  This site implies that it's totally irrelevant in this context:http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/outbuildings/To quote:"Outbuildings are considered to be permitted development, not needing planning permission, subject to the following limits and conditions:    No outbuilding on land forward of a wall forming the principal elevation.    Outbuildings and garages to be single storey with maximum eaves height of 2.5 metres and maximum overall height of four metres with a dual pitched roof or three metres for any other roof.    Maximum height of 2.5 metres in the case of a building, enclosure or container  within two metres of a boundary of the curtilage of the dwellinghouse.    No verandas, balconies or raised platforms.    No more than half the area of land around the "original house" would be covered by additions or other buildings." EtcThere seems to be no differentiation between front and back gardens and I guess it's possible that different rules apply in London or some of its boroughs - but I've never heard that that applies.Perhaps earlier posters could detail why they think planning permission is required?

I'm confused,  is it a legal requirement to get planning permission or does everyone just ignore it?

It's funny that some time ago there was a lot of fuss about having anything like this in the front garden because of the planning issue.  This was when residents were taking responsibility for their own rubbish and buying small ordinary sized dustbins to safeguard it and hiding them behind wooden enclosures in their small gardens.  Now the Council is insisting that it places its very large and hideous wheelies in our gardens...

we bought a bike shed last summer from tiger sheds online and were delighted with it- delivery .quality and ease of assembly all good - we needed  a toolshed and this shape fitted our requirements - you are welcome to have a look if it helps

I'm surprised, David, that you haven't mentioned Ealing Cycling Campaign's report on this. Includes recommendations. I'd suggest checking on the planning issue. I'm not keen to see these in front gardens and I'm not alone.

I think of they are wood you don't need permission? The B&Q etc are not great but the next step up from proper builder merchants start to get pricey. I wonder for that price whether you could commission a local builder to knock something up?

Be aware, i think you need planning permission for buildings in the front...
