It's not just this charity shop, another local charity, Dementia Concern is also to close it's shop cutting off a vital income for a charity that Ealing relies heavily on.If you have or know someone who succumbs to Dementia locally, then there's a chance that you will also know just what fantastic work these people do in the face of adversity, incompetence and narrow mindedness that still exists engrained within the whole professional care culture.The audacity for Ealing to withdraw a subsidy is a joke. It is a complete misuse of a word favoured by politically minded accountants.There is no such subsidy as the charges are artificially fabricated in the first place. If a charity pays 50% less rates, the council does not pay the other 50%.They have forgotten that this is volunteers, reliant on goodwill and donations and not for profit. It would only be a subsidy if they did pay the other 50% into the pot.Same council has used this fake rationale for hiking up other charges like parking.All it will do is force people to be even more reliant on the NHS and Council services.These people with these ideas and decisions really ought to be fully accountable, named and shamed. One day it could be them or their family members in a predicament that needs such help.
