Turkey cage=Obstruction on Highway

A turkey cage/cycle storage facility has recently appeared in the road at the junction of Mattock Lane and Broomfield Road W13. Interestingly it bears no reflectors or lights. Cars etc have to have reflectors (Construction and Use Regs) and skips in LBE have to have lights  during the hours of darkness. So what makes the turkey cage different?It was invented and run by the boffins in Perceval Castle and they are always right. RSPCA note...turkeys to move in after voting for Christmas.

cycled past it this evening - both ends have three reflectors. Let's hope more streets will get these in the coming months. Long overdue.

It's an interesting addition.  I hope if it doesn't have reflectors they will soon be added.  We have enough problems with unlit cyclists and unlit skips as well as drivers driving too fast - and that is just on the road. God help us if we were also to have to suffer pavements populated with wheelie bins making it impossible for pedestrians to walk along safely.

they are lockable- hence the £30 annual charge. I know skips need a lights on but as I said I think the bike bunkers do have reflective strips on.

Aren't skips also supposed to have reflective strips?  They certainly used to have to.We noticed this as we drove past and wondered how individuals get bikes in an out as it looks as though it will be locked to deter thieves.

thought it did have reflectors on actually but there again perhaps not.it's not actually invented by the council by another company and there's a few dotted around Ealing with more to come, and there's a lot in other boroughs. Something like £30 a year to have access in order to park a bike in.
