Rosie Boycott the journalist and Food Tsar also has a petition on the go with change.org asking the supermarkets to stop the waste in the food supply chain.  That is now up to 183,000+https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-rot-end-supply-chain-food-wasteThey need to unilaterally lower the cosmetic standards that they have for vegetables.  The competition between the supermarkets is fierce and just drives the ridiculous standards up until nobody ever gets to see any wonky vegetables any more.  Even if they all look the same we still choose from the box!  The most picked over vegetables end up being the ones that are left and those are the ones which it would be good if the supermarkets lowered the price for or gave away at the end of the day rather than binning them.  Some of them are saying on their websites that they are giving the food away but in fact that is not actually what is happening.
