Ringo parking

I have been instructed to use the council's rinGo system to pay for parking. There is very little info cost where when etc on the Council website. I don't have a mobile phone so can't enter the system. Is this right or am I just being a duffer. My Gran used to say if there ain't a price on it you can't afford it.

Ringo is great and well worth the extra 20p. No bucket of change in your car and no returning the car just to top up the parking when you haven't finished your shopping/dinner/coffee/whatever.Use it with your Ealing Residents Visitors too, welcome guests in and sort their parking while the kettle boils!

Hi Arthur,You can ring the tel number on the parking meter for RinGo and book the old fashioned over the phone - I have done this in the past when my smart phone didn't have a 3g signal. You will need to register a payment card /mobile number and your car reg number with them though, so your first call may take some time. Going forwards you just call up and it recognises your mobile number linked to your account and you should be able to do it with the automated system.On the subject of RinGo it does annoy me that you have to pay an additional 20p surcharge when booking when you do all the work on your phone !

No, you shouldn't have to have one but modern technology gives access to things you otherwise lose out on. Remember the Olympic torch party in Walpole Park in 2012? Applications only via the website to save money, causing a lot of complaints from people without internet access. And now the government is referring to fast broadband as a basic necessity like water and electricity.

I don't have a smartphone and seldom have any space on old mobile, haven't got it or fed it.  It is just like having another child.  Surely you shouldn't have to have one.  Many people don't.

Okay. Arthur says that he hasn't got a mobile at all, but you can get one for a tenner from, say, Tesco.

If you have a smart phone then it couldn't be simpler. Download the App and set up an account with your car registration and credit card number. Then it takes a minute to pay every time you park. I use it 2 or 3 times a week.

I don't think you can use it without a smart phone. There is a website but the point is that you park and them pay from your car. It tells you the price then before you pay.
