Well not really.The US murder rate per 100,000 in 2012 was 4.7 (14,827 murders).The UK's recorded murder rate is about 1 per 100,000 (550 murders). There are about 55 or so unsolved murders or so every year (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1561945/Rate-of-unsolved-murders-doubles-in-decade.html), which if included, would not increase the per 100,000 number a great deal more. Even if the figure was as high as 500 unsolved murders a year (which is very doubtful), the rate would still be around 1.6 per 100,000, which you'll agree is still nowhere near the US' rate of 4.7.
