Freddy's on Northfield Avenue

I see what used to be Jackson's and before that NatWest bank has now reopened as Freddy's - has anyone been?

Only called in for drinks, no food, mid-afternoon mid-week and understandably quiet but pleasantly surprised by the ambience and decor. Obviously aiming for the food market but clear distinction between the eating area with low tables and barside with high stools and tables to match. No sofas here - well Costa or Starbucks it is not. So looking forward to going back in the evening to try more of the drinks and the food. Lots of restaurants and cafés on the the Avenue but good to get a decent bar as well.

Finally had the chance to visit Freddys.Evening visit,enjoyed the swordfish supreme and other half enjoyed the spicy butterfly chicken all very tasty.Washed down with a bottle of san Millan rioja,very nice.Atmosphere very buzzy with chat,back ground music on a low volume,prices fairly reasonable and the televisions have gone.Overall very good,excellent selection of wine.The owner Fred is a local Ealing resident and they have my custom.

There have been lots of reviews on the Northfields Friends Facebcook Group.  Just do a search on "Freddy's"Went for a family meal one early evening - food nice but not in a rush to go back.  Owner  bumped a friend's order before ours and we waited 40 mins for food whilst watching him shake their hands and asking if they were enjoying their meal.  Music on was heavy metal and too loud.  I went to the bar asked the staff whether the music was their choice or the restaurant's.  They changed it very quickly and we could then hold a conversation.

Had a very quick look in yesterday while waiting for my bus,it looks very clean and tidy actually very inviting.Some excellent paintings on the walls.Saw a group of Forrester customers in there enjoying a meal,the well healed credit card types.Staff wear uniform so its easy find the staff,unlike the above gastro pub.Going for a proper visit later this week,any questions you want answered ask here and I will do my best to answer.HarryJay.

Not yet, but I noticed that they've closed off a significant part of the pavement outside with boards and a rope to protect the tables that they have outside. A hazard I'd have thought - don't they need some sort of permission from the Council to do this?
