Perivale Community Garden crowdfunding page

A crowdfunding page has been set up to start a community garden across the road from the HQ of 4th Perivale Scouts in Stockdove Way (https://greenford365.wordpress.com/2012/06/02/4th-perivale-scouts-jubilee-event-stockdove-way/).Despite mentions in the local paper and numerous tweets from me and others there have only been two pledges, amounting to £30 so far. This is a long way from the target of £10,000, so if you have a taste for chilli jam or a lino print please take a look and make a pledge. I tried explaining to the person running the page that it's difficult getting people on different social media networks in the area to interact and that they would need to raise awareness in other ways. He wouldn't go into any more detail about the wider environmental project mentioned in the video. I've tweeted the British Monarchy account to point out that it isn't far from Harrow where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be on Saturday to mark World Mental Health Day and that it's next to the place where her mother was born. Perhaps they'll drop by and give it some publicity (a very long shot).

Then it won't be the first crowdfunding project that has failed.  I think there has to be a lot of other advertising as well in order to find those people who will be particularly interested in sponsoring this project.

Frankly, unless a miracle takes place within 20 days this crowdfunded project isn't going to happen which suggests that the people living around the site in question aren't interested.

Tesco 5p carrier bag fund - Six projects will receive funding in each of 428 regions annually, which means that over two thousand different projects will receive funding from the bag charge after just one year. The amount of funding available for individual local projects will range from £8,000 to £12,000.Tesco is calling on local community groups and charities to apply for the funding. There are two voting rounds a year, nominations will be whittled down to three good causes that customers can choose from to vote for in each area. Administration of the local funding will be handled by environmental improvement charity Groundwork, which specialises in transforming local green spaces for the better.
