Gunnersbury Park

Partly prompted by the headline on the news page of this site just curious as to why Ealing Council contribute to the upkeep of this Park when it appears to be entirely within the borders of the London Borough of Hounslow? Of course Ealing residents use it but this "cross-border" travel happens everywhere.So why, when Ealing has a huge number and area of Parks to maintain, is this an additional cost?

The history of the park stretches back for centuries and it would be nice to see it a little less shabby.Incidentally, it's often to be seen on TV, most recently in the last two episodes of New Tricks.

OK thanks.  A check on Wikipedia reveals more of the history ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunnersbury_Park ). I guess I should have done that search before posting but thanks for the steer anyway.

I suppose because it was the borough of Ealing & Acton that originally purchased it from the Rothschilds just before WW2 so there are historic links.
