Tonight's CH4 programme about Very British Problems showed some stock film clips to illustrate the point. One was particularly interesting. I would guess it was filmed late 1960s on the junction of Ealing Common - Hangar Lane/Gunnersbury Ave. It clearly showed a police box (tardis) on the corner . Does anyone remember that?

A little late to the discussion but there was also one on the North East corner of the junction of Gunnersbury Avenue and Popes Lane. I never saw it being used but occassionally the blue light would be flashing. Very exciting.

I never hung around when I used to pass that box in 1958 just before Jane Mansfield open the Flyover in 1959 (The M4 alterations happened in the mid 1960's).Perhaps upload your image via Flickr David. The long gone church in that picture was St James' Gunnersbury...and yes you can see the site of the Peugeot garage. Esso Petrol Station still there.

If I knew how to post a photo from my iPhone I'd take a pic of the one shown on TV
Certainly looks like Chiswick Roundabout with Chiswick High Road heading off into the distance at the top of the photo. Not many buildings left though - perhaps what is now the Peugeot showroom? Before my time in the area but when was the elevated

Just down the road from Ealing Common and Gunnersbury Avenue was theabove one.
I feel sure there was one in West Ealing outside Dean Gardens Park; it was a source of endless fascination! Gosh, they are iconic, aren't they?

I don't remember that one - but I do remember the one on the south side of the bridge over the railway line next to Olympia, which was there all through the Seventies.
