Ridiculous Car  Insurance Quotes for Older  drivers

I feel many older drivers are forced to give up driving their Car usage inspite of having a perfect driving record throughout their life, Only because the Insurers overpriced Quotes are coupled with the knowledge, that Car insurance is a Government requirement .Last year the cost quoted was £410.00 FuLLY COM, This years Renewal cost Quoted is £864.00 with the same company,same car, no risk changes . Is this Unusual or am I the only one of those being priced off the road.?mI have tried in vain to get a more reasonable quote and guess what? I did worse.

I quite would believe anything about most of the practices reported about Car insurers metods, of pricing up a quote. I had a letter addressed to me with  the Junk delivery from the "POST OFFICE". It invited me to  try their Offer of a Guarantteed Quotation of £50.00 less than the best quote I could get. I pesonally went to the Post office to check the offer and here is what i discover. The offer only applies to a RENEWAL QUOTE from your last insurer . I think Peter they are safe in the knowledge it would not  be applicable to a New insurer if it were to be lower than the renual price quote....I am still trying and wondering if such practices are fair .

i tend to be lazy & accept the standard inflation line, having once spent ages going through 101 questions & being rejected near the end.The straw that broke the camels back was when I spoke to a person - a joyful rarity, she said I used my vehicle for commercial use. Complete & utter nonsense.I then asked the actual legal minimum requirement to be on the road, without the add ons.This was not well received & she tried to scaremonger me into not removing them,I disagreed & did so, saving a few bob

Try using an insurance broker rather than going direct to the insurance company.

2014 I paid Saga £318 fully comp and Green Flag £81 breakdown cover, 2015 renewal quotes Saga £381 and GF £97.52 so I changed to CIS for £338 fully comp and breakdown, but The Co-operative Car Insurance is normally available to customers aged 17 to 75 years only.

Often renewals are increased by quite a bit as the insurance company expects you not to query it. I have found that quite often. I use the comparison sites plus also go through direct line (as that id not on a site) and so I find that usually I move company almost every year returning to the same company 3 years later. Saga is quite pricy and whilst I used them for one year and they were excellent price then I found their renewal had increased by 40%.
