Dogs on leads
After recently adopting a rescue dog called Benny (Staffordshire Bull Terrier) I decided to take him for one of his long walks, this time into and through Ealing Broadway. As I left the Broadway (the Oliver Bonas exit), I approached the cobbled area by Patisserie Valerie as my dog was pounced on by a small Pomeranian which was not on a lead. I saw it as I came around the corner, with the owner talking to someone sat outside one of the cafes, when the dog spotted Benny and sprinted over and proceeded to jump, growl, and despite my own efforts to not only hold my strong dog back but to fend off the smaller dog, it would not stop and caused a lot of distress to people walking and sat around. After about 10 seconds the owner came over and "apologised", picked up the dog and stormed off. Benny is 11 years old and did not know what to do. Kindly, a woman approached me and said how proud I should be at how Benny behaved, as the reputation Staffie's sometimes carry is the complete opposite of the kind of behaviour he displayed. Please whenever possible keep dogs on a lead, unless you can be sure as to their behaviour. This could have had a far more tragic result.
