How is the change going to affect the Ealing Common Ward red route area?  It seems as though Wheelie Bins are not an option, and that the black bag and clear bag system will continue, except they will be collected fortnightly, on alternate weeks. Every week as it is, there is a huge collection of black bags and clear recycle bags (when you can get them) along the red route.  Waiting two weeks to pick up the black bags which contain discarded food products (as there is no food recycling) may possibly cause unwanted consequences??  Would you mind looking into this?

I receive a 15 pack of the clear recycling sacks regularly, they seem to arrive at a separate time from the collections.

I had not received any clear sacks for a very long time, but thought that a delivery may be due, so started checking my security cameras for a delivery being stolen. I discovered that the full sacks are carried to the roadside a short time before the refuse truck arrives, and all bags are then loaded in. A recycling truck follows a few feet behind, but there are no clear recycling sacks left to load so it just acts as a mobile safety buffer. (I have now received a pack of clear sacks).

It is always worthwhile separating your food waste to see whether you can reduce what you are wasting.  If you do this you can also wrap just that better so as to make it less likely to be attacked by scavengers in the time that is outside and vulnerable to attack. You may find that to do this you can reuse any unrecyclable plastic bags from things you have purchased if you are careful with the way that you unpackage any pre-wrapped items.In the States you will find that people often freeze their food waste (particularly heads and tails of prawns) so that their home doesn't smell of fish until waste and recycling day.

I have been informed it was a late change to the plan making red routes exempt from the changes, as of last week.If I am made aware of any changes, I will post further information.

Great!  Many thanks for your help and quick response Joanna!  I was concerned about point 16 on the council's FAQ's page.16. I live on a red route, will I be affected?All red route properties will continue to use the same containers, but your refuse and recycling will be collected fortnightly, on alternate weeks.
