The Avenue Antiques, Vintage & Retro Market  Sat 27th 9-5pm

Saturday sees another interesting collection of things you have never seen or will remember from the past and memories will flood back.  Come and have a browse and enjoy local shops and cafes.  All down the Avenue from West Ealing Station = keep on going to the very end - or indeed, start at the other end!!  Go to the food market in Leeland road too and I think there will be new crafts there too.  So many great gifts in all markets or treat yourself....

A lot of new stuff is definitely of poorer quality than old stuff.  Look at all the chipboard furniture we get now and the cheap plastic instead of wood metal or china.  Good wooden furniture was being put in the compactor because there was no storage for it and no outlets for sale.  Things are changing and there are more people mending and upcycling and new businesses selling interesting articles. It can be far more interesting than the mass produced stuff of today. Original Victorian tiles can be very expensive but there are some very beautiful ones. Architectural salvage?One man's trash is another man's treasure!

Btw, does anyone know of any antique or bric-a-brac shop in West London selling Victorian(or earlier) ceramic tiles? Or do you have any you'd want to sell please? Good quality ones please.

The definition of 'antique' is a moveable feast really.  I feel antique, but only an octogenarian yet!

Yes - I believe so.  However, 100 years ago brings us to 1915 - not that big a stretch.  I wouldn't be surprised if there was stuff that old on sale at the Avenue.  Whether you'd want to buy it is another matter.

It's what some people would call 'vintage, antique or retro' and other would call a load of old tat.I'm afraid I'm in the latter camp!
