Are children of Ealing Residents eligible for shared ownership?

My query is as a long time resident both my husband and I of Ealing, does my son qualify for a ownership shared property in Acton Gardens. We have been told he needs to be working and residing in Ealing to be eligible. He went off to Uni and then got a job in Wood Green, he is now married and has a son of 18 months, he would like to have the opportunity to purchase his first property in Ealing so that I could provide the family support as they are both working. Can you please throw some light on the matter please.  Many thanks.

A freehold of a block of flats can be owned by a company made up of the leaseholders of those flats. They may each have a share or may opt to have a company limited by guarantee instead. Alternatively, with smaller buildings of four flats or less, the freehold could be owned by up to four individuals on the title deeds.If you are talking about how many indivduals can hold title to the freehold of a house rather than a block of flats, then the answer is no more than four.

Another question:-  Is there such a thing as shared freehold? I know there can be shared leasehold, but can freehold be shared?  Any property lawyers care to answer?

You need to contact the housing association or the agents acting for them. Acton Gardens has a website at http://www.actongardens.co.uk/ which has quite a bit of information.

There are no restrictions on what you choose do to with your own home Gerry.I suspect that the OP is enquiring about the detailed eligibility criteria for a shared ownership scheme run (probably) by a housing association of some sort.

I assume you mean shared ownership of the freehold with you and your husband? I think the answer is yes - he may become an equal and shared owner with you both I believe, although I'm not a lawyer and stand to be corrected.
