Leon's, S Ealing Road

Does anyone know if Leon's has changed hands?  Went there today for breakfast (yes,I know, spoiled or what?)and was surprised to see new waitress and new cook.  I asked about the usual staff and was told they were 'not in today'.Breakfast was a shadow of its former self - tired sausage, too many baked beans, the smallest rasher of bacon known to man - even the coffee, which is usually very good, was much weaker than before.If the old staff do not reappear, I'm afraid they have lost my custom.

There's nothing like a good hearty breakfast occasionally. Back bacon, a pork sausage, egg, beans, bubble'n squeak and a hot tea!

There is a small friendly cafe in the car park of Wickes.But despite the setting, the bacon rolls and tea are superb and the prices even betterI had a bacon roll and cup of tea from this trailer this afternoon.  I can confirm the owner was friendly and welcoming and the bacon roll cost £1.70 and was very good.  I can't remember how much the tea cost.Next time I might try the bacon baguette at £2.40I agree with others' comments about a decent sausage being part of a good breakfast.  However, I am not assertive enough to give direct feedback to a cafe owner whilst still on the premises.  Has anyone done this?I emailed a cafe in West Ealing to say their bacon was poor and they sent a very positive reply.  I now need to email them again to see if they've changed it!  I certainly won't go back if it's still tasteless.

For me that would include a grilled/fried ripe tomato (I've put up with too many unripe ones - they are usually sold unripe) and a decent quality sausage (there are some tasteless and anaemic looking ones around).I haven't (yet) been out for a full breakfast on South Ealing Road.

Your full breakfast sounds delicious Mark - but I'd add 'bubble'n squeak'! Northfield Ave has many good outlets for full breakfasts I agree.

I'm told that they do a fab brekky.  They do Polish food as well .The quality says it all, far better than the local cafes which are too expensive for the much of the fare they offer. But then they are after a different market altogether.Northfields and Brentford have the best 'greasy spoon' cafes. Bronek's in Northfields does fab Full english and Irish as does a cafe in Layton road in Brentford.A full English for me is decent back bacon or streaky rashers, a best quality pork sausage, fried bread, fried egg, beans,flat fried potatoes or hash browns and HP brown sauce.  I'm not keen on mushrooms or tomatoes but for most I guess that's in the mix.The Irish version with black pudding. and if it's there, bubble and squeak Plus a decent cup of breakfast tea.Super satisfying that it is it's something I only have rarely, either on long day outdoor jobs in the winter or the odd special day.  Makes it all the more enjoyable.Now back to my bowl of porridge!

What's the best place along that part of South Ealing Road for a full English breakfast?  What's the perfect full English breakfast?

Sorry - are you confusing this place with the chain Leon?  The Leon's on South Ealing Road is an independent establishment - and we've been going there occasionally for breakfast for at least 3 years. I don't want a Chicken House Wrap for breakfast!  They have several choices of breakfast dishes, so are presumably happy to serve breakfast as we know it, Jim.As I say, I don't think I'll be going there again - especially as the coffee has taken a turn for the worse.  Under the previous management it was excellent.

Dare I say, a rather apologetic post.If, as has been said, even the coffee is poor then I'll give the 'lighter portions' cafe a miss. Must show this to the teachers in the family though, the thought of stopping at a cafe for breakfast will give them a chuckle.

Leon's mainstay is Mexican and Mediterranean food. I would suggest the Chicken House Wrap (or if you are vegetarian the Vegetarian House Wrap (with Coffee!)). The focus of the cafe/restaurant is healthy food and everything is freshly cooked by grilling, in vegetable oil, or by microwave in plain sight of the customers. The breakfasts are there to complete the menu and Leon's is not a "breakfast" cafe. The aim is to have a healthy portion product for teachers, office workers, commuters, etc. When I want a light breakfast I go there. If I am about to go and start carting furiture around I go 50 yards down the road where there are several excellent "greasy spoon" cafes close by that will do you a "bucket of beans" if you are off to do a hard day's physical work.If unhappy, always ask.

The place has (had?) been on the market for ages.I didn't think the lease and goodwill were badly priced to be honest.Maybe they have finally sold it.
