E cigarettes dangerous?

Are E cigarettes dangerous to one's health? Are they as satisfying as tobacco was (still is) to the smoker? Should E cigs be banned?  Do they cause harm to passive non-smokers?

"It certainly is much better now that smoking is banned in pubs and restaurants."Agreed Philippa, not only is it dangerous, but its a filthy habit and very anti-social.  Some doorways of pubs, restaurants and cafes are littered with nasty looking 'dog-ends' - not a pretty sight imo.

They seem to be much better for you than the real thingso I don't really understand why Wales would do this.It certainly is much better now that smoking is banned in pubs and restaurants.

I was a smoker but I gave them up a long time ago. I had my first cigarette when I was about twelve and was violently sick as I recall! A rite of passage I guess! Life's strange, but interesting!

As a rabid anti-smoker having had to suffer horrendously in pubs and restaurants for the best part of thirty years I do struggle to avoid being offended by e-cigarettes.  The visual similarities between smoking for real and the use of e-cigarettes is almost too much to bear, so yes, I am for banning them (though I struggle in turn with such a view as it runs counter to my general principle of live and let live in the absence of harm to others.)
