Clean seaside beaches?

Which beaches are the cleanest from pollution and sewage in England and Wales? We're planning a family holiday and we're keen to select a really clean, safe and unpolluted seaside beach where children may safely play. Opinions and advice please - thanks.

Most beaches in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall are beautiful. We are currently house hunting in Devon and the beaches are stunning.

Caswell, Rhossili, and Oxwitch get my vote - all on the Gower.

We really like Solent Meads beach at Hengistbury Head and if you fancy a walk over the head, down onto Mudeford Spt-it - of pricey beach hut fame. Lovely and clean and not too crowded.

GerryI was walking (OK shambling VERY slowly on crutches) at Poppit only last summer.It is still spotless and the location where the Teifi meets the sea is simply beautiful.

Can't beat Hastings. If the fish are fit to eat that are landed there it must be alright.

Thanks for your recommendations Nigel. I used to frequent quiet and clean beaches at Tresaith, Poppit Sands and Llangrannog in the early 1950s when I was stationed at Pembroke Dock during National Service during my days off. - I'd forgotten what good beaches they were(still are!) - Thanks again for reminding me.

Most of the beaches around Cardigan Bay get blue flags and they are just a 'little too far' to get crowded as well.There are some beautiful beaches like Aberporth and Llangrannog that have Blue Flags but most of the little bays like Cwm Tudu, Penbryn and Tresaith are spotless as well  but simply too small to go for awards.
