VHS Video Tapes

Hi folks, has anybody found anywhere that will take your old VHS tapes for recycling

It all depends on what you consider the word Recycling to mean.If you mean Reuse then we are having a lot of trouble finding anywhere that still takes them and the websites where you offer whatever you no longer want seem to be one of the best ways of finding a home for them.  Unfortunately the people who are likely to still use these are also likely to be people who are not online.  I know that there are elderly people who receive tapes from the different Councils' library services for instance. When I was looking for tapes Southall Neighbourhood Concern was mentioned as a place I might find them.  However I already had enough from the local (not Ealing) library service.http://www.recyclenow.com/what-to-do-with/cds-dvdsDon't ever think that because they have taken something in your bag that that means that the answer is 'yes'!  I think they just tip the bag up and from what we have seen in the past we don't think that they have any training.

In August last year I believe the West Middx was still using portable video machines in their Children's Dept.  You could try there.

Thanks Nigel - It's such a shame to just throw them away but will see if i can donate to a local jumble sale

Simon, sadly no.I have tried every, and I do mean every, charity shop In Ealing, Chiswick and Hounslow - no joy.The online places don't want them.I ended up giving any children's ones to a local school and donating the others to a church jumble sale, figuring that one or two might go before they were dumped.
