Pebble Removal

I'm toying with paving the back garden. Problem is it's currently covered in about 3 metric tonnes of Brighton Beach pebbles. Would anyone even have a clue where to look for having them removed?

Update - I FreeCycled and have several people wanting "a bag or two" and one gentleman who pretty much needs the rest for his patio so by the end of next week the love will have been spread. Thanks for the suggestion. I normally FreeCycle houehold goods but pebbles surprised me.

Good question Phil. When I put them in some 20 years ago I hardly used the garden. The Internet was in its infancy and there was a lot of business travel to be done. Now I work from home and use the garden more. Over 20 years the petals from the cherry tree and wind blown soil had built up on top of the weed stop but under the pebbles meaning a constant weeding chore. I've just moved all the pebbles on to the decking (took 12 hours) to remove the soil and replace the weed stop - which was in fact intact. So bottom line - I'm looking for something that is easier to weed and easier to have BBQs on. And face it, none of us are getting younger and Brighton Beach pebbles underfoot aren't the easiest to stand on. These were bought from a licensed merchant in Brighton. I remember they cost twice as much per tonne to have delivered than to actually buy :)

AndrewPurely out of curiosity, what's prompted your change of mind?  No implied criticism, I'm genuinely interested in why such a definite choice no longer suits. As a possible solution, do you have any acquaintances who are builders?  They would have the equipment to remove the pebbles and are the most likely people to be able to pass / sell them on.  I'm seeing a building mate tomorrow and will see if he's interested.

Yes I had someone respond very quickly for a dive computer saying they wanted it then never contacted again. It would take a LOT of trips to remove 3 tonnes of pebbles. They were delivered by a lorry with crane. Think I might just see if they can be paved over :).

If you were to offer them on Ealing Freecycle I am sure you would get some takers, especially as the bank holidays are approaching.
