Amy, missing cat

Please share this. Amy the cat has been missing from her home in Bennetts Avenue, Greenford, since Wednesday 25th March. She is fluffy, white with tortoiseshell markings, is elderly, gentle and needs to come home soon. Please check sheds and gardens in case she is trapped. Any news, good or bad will be passed on to her owner. Maybe Amy was a stow away like my late moggie. Hitched a ride in a car parked outside my house. !!!  Thankfully some sensible person took her to a vet who found her micro chip. So 7 weeks later back from Reading , a bit thin and dirty but in good shape considering her adventures.  My doglet saw a locum one visit who  said there was absolutely no need for her to have painkillers. Her leg was deformed from birth NOT arthritis. Not zonked out  now and leads a full and active life. Some vets ...!!!!

She's been checked for various things and appears to have avoided picking up anything nasty. I still can't believe she got that far without injury. Our own cat was so anxious that we didn't go on holiday the whole time we had him. We didn't want to risk him with anyone else. On two occasions he spent the night with the vet and by the time we took him home he was hoarse from miaowing and the staff looked rather worn down!

We think it is OK to just swan off on holiday yet somehow we don't expect our cats to do the same....Lovely news to hear that Amy is home and OK.

Amy has been in the care of intelligent, loving owners and professional, responsible vets for many years. Her medical problems are not diet related. The police do not have the resources or inclination to investigate such incidents.

She is also in need of medication but appears to have managed without it for quite a while."Given the distance she'd travelled and her pampered appearance to start with, quite possibly she was cat-napped and then tired of her new home. I'm not a vet and wouldn't necessarily want to impugn vets' motives, but the fact that she apparently survived so well without her "essential" medication, might suggest that previously she was simply reacting badly to something in her diet. And that a change of diet was all that was needed. Even simply milk to water maybe.Obviously its impossible to contact the catnappersto enquire what they were feeding her, but possiblyan opposite of what she was getting before mightdo the trick.One trick I learned with cats myself is that if you're weak and feed them with the most expensivefood - they somehow know all the prices - or give them treats they'll try and turn their nose up at anythingcheaper. Maybe the catnapper succeeded in weaningher off some of this.michael adams...

Our cat Jones would occasionally stay out late then roll in at 1am. He understood what the words "You are SO grounded" meant because he didn't bother to ask to be let out the next day. That was enough to turn our hair grey so I'm not sure that we would have coped terribly well if the absences had been longer. We haven't got another cat because we couldn't take the anxiety when it happened with Jones. He died seven years ago and we still miss him. Named after the ginger cat in the film "Alien".

We had a cat that vanished for a month - then one day turned up as if nothing had happened! It remembered where his food was laid and his favourite place to sleep!

Straying all the way from Greenford to South Ealing is quite some distance!Really glad there was a happy ending.
