Tree Surgeon or Gardener with a Chainsaw for a Very Small Job

Does anyone know someone who is handy with a chainsaw?I have (over)pruned my Bramley but left a single damaged limb which needs trimming or it won't heal properly.The diameter is about 24 inches and the amount to be removed is about the same.I could hire a chainsaw but the job would be better done by someone who knew what they were doing - even if it is just a single cut.Thanks

Thanks for the offer Tony but it has finally been done.I managed to find someone who didn't want to charge a massive call-out fee for 3 mins work.If I hear of any wood going begging, I'll let you know!Cheers!

How high off the ground is the cut that needs to be made?If it can be done from ground level I might be able to help in return for the wood.I'm not a professional but I do have three chainsaws (!) and a modest amount of experience.As an amateur wood-turner I am always on the lookout for odd bits of wood from fruit trees.

Doh!Thanks Tony - I was forlornly looking out of my window and massively overestimating the size of the task. And getting geometrically confused.The diameter is around 11 inches, giving a circumference of nearly 35 inches. Still needs doing.

24 inch *diameter* Bramley *limb*?Blimey, I'd like to see that tree - it must be a world beater!Are you sure it's really that large? I can't think that I've ever seen a Bramley with a main trunk diameter of more than 12 inches.Are you perhaps referring to the circumference?
