Ealing Studios

Does anyone know if Ealing Studios gives tours.  I grew up in Ealing and have been away for 40 years and will be home in June 2015.? Thanks.

Interesting to note as well, that all the tanks are 7 and 7 and a half feet deep. Quite a lot for miniature boats.But then possibly they had "divers" in wet suits swimming around under the surface, as an easy way of controlling the boats from underneath. michael adams...

Stage 6 is not listed on the studio website any more.Fascinating facts though.I didn't realise how small the waterproof tanks were (35ft x 20ft ). When you consider the amazing Ealing films that were shot on those (The Cruel Sea etc.) it is testament to the skills of the film makers.

Stages 2 (built in 1931)and 3 (built in 1933) are both still in use along with the music and recording studio stage (Stage 5) and the miniatures and small sets stage (Stage 1)

I stand to be corrected but I believe only Sound Stage 3 has survived and still in operation. Failing a tour being available there's a good view of the rear of Stage three to be got froma walk down the side of Walpole Park. To me, the outside staircases and balconies and the white paint give that side of the studios the rather romantic look of an ocean line beached in the middle of suburbia.michael adams...

I grew up in Ealing and have always loved films so was very pleased  when our Thai restaurant received food orders from the studios. I made sure I did the delivery and loved looking around the sound stages. I hope you get a chance to visit
