Ealing Coffee Festival

Anyone know anything about this? I saw it in the Around Ealing magazine, allegedly from the 13th-16th April. The ad says visit the website (but doesn't give a url) and Google doesn't know much about it. It has a Twitter hashtag  #ealingcoffeefest which currently has just 2 tweets on it.Not a great deal of publicity for an event that is less than a month away?

The slugs and snails thing isn't actually true.  Only real way to deal with them is dunk 'em in a bucket of salty water.  As for the mushroom growing, Oyster mushrooms will grow well in them, but they are quite aggressive in their growth so will grow on pretty much anything.  I have some growing in coffee grounds at the moment.  The idea is that the coffee has already been through a heat treatment so is already free of any competition.  Other edibles prefer wood which is why garden places sell mushroom logs.I work for a restaurant chain and can visit several sites on a daily basis.  The amount of grounds that get thrown away is astonishing.  Given that commercial waste costs to be taken away, it easy to see why most are happy to give used grounds away.Still don't like coffee much though.

I use my coffee grounds on top of the soil. Keeps cats off and slugs too.If you don't have a bean-to-cup machine one can get coffee grounds from any coffee shop. Starbucks have it bagged up for you to take away.

I think they base their prices on house prices. However, most of us have lived around here for many years, pre house-price explosion, and don't earn megabucks in the city.

And their not even an independent either! you wouldn't mind so much if they were. You can get a 2 course meal at Carluccio's on their special menu for around £11 each, I just don't get that sort of pricing in Ealing at the bottom of Northfields Avenue.

We went to The Fields today on Northfields Aveneue next to the PloughNice gaff.Decent serviceCoffee not bad -- missus was luke warm but re-done hotter no fuss.Cracking bit of scramble on toast - really, really nice.I say good gaff and well done on the all the rage shabby sheek stuffNow then.... to the price watchers.. oooooohh. This is gonna hurt.Two lattes, one scrambled on toast (bit more than standard), one open fried egg sarnie... £18.20.City prices!!

Hope they do something useful with the waste coffee grounds.Less than 1% of every coffee served ends up in the cup.

http://www.makeitealing.co.uk which is one of two websites at the bottom of the page. It seems they have not yet released the programme yet (or very disorganised!). Hope the coffee is worth the wait !!!

Hmm - sounds like they haven't done the website yet, so didn't have the url to print in the magazine. Doesn't seem very well organised!
