Philip,I have taken that into account which is why it is only forty and not the 60+ that a usual size double decker holds. If you want to test my rough guide figure, ask passengers on a full double decker bus in rush hour how many own a car. The numbers will vary on location of the bus service, but as a general rule urban and more frequent services do take more cars off the road than rural services. This is because urban services are generally shorter trips.Something like two thirds of London car journeys are less than four miles. It is a figure that is steadily falling as more people are taking to walking, cycling and using, dare I say it, buses! To meet this demand, more buses are on the road with more frequent services. However, people on higher incomes are more likely to make more car journeys than those in the lowest income bracket.Car Clubs are interesting too. On average, every car club car will take six cars off the road. I even found space to mention the cycling word! Good grief!
