Upholstery

Can anyone recommend a good local upholsterer? Many thanks.

I cannot speak too highly of Ian King (and his son Barney).Superb craftsmen who have worked both for me and my local church.They have skills which one thought had long gone and they are, if it doesn't sound too over the top 'local treasures'.

Richard Wilde re-upholstered two antique Japanese obi chairs and matching stools for us two years ago after we had the frames repaired by Ian King in Hanwell (who is also a skilled craftsman selective about what jobs he takes on).  The covering used was a heavy silk (not the average sort of thing for upholstery!)  They were done beautifully and well worth the not inconsiderable price.But Richard Wilde is very busy and is understandably selective in what work he takes on.

He is though very selective in what he wants to repair and was totally disinterested when I needed repairs to an antique leather armchair.His quality of workmanship though is excellent according to a friend who had an ottoman reupholstered.

Thoroughly recommend Richard Wilde in Hanwell.  Not cheap but really excellent work.  Workshop is just under the railway bridge, on the left as you go from Hanwell towards Gurnell.
