Hotmail advice please

In their wisdom Microsoft have removed Hotmail and it looks as if I've lost my e-mails.  Does anyone know how to restore my Hotmail account.  Thanks in advance.

All I can think of is that you try following the advice on Microsoft's forums, e.g. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/oemail-orestoremail/lost-emails-after-renaming-an-account/15639037-f925-46c2-97bf-e36c32f452ec Or http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/outlook/recover-deleted-messages. If that doesn't work, ask a question on the Microsoft forum, but it may be too long after the switch from Hotmail to Outlook for you to be able to do anything now.

Sorry to say Pat that keeping anything critically important in only a free email account like Hotmail is unfortunately a recipe for disaster.If your inbox disappeared during the migration from Hotmail to outlook.com then any mails stored there are irretrievably lost. Sorry.

I registered my husband with an outlook account but kept my own Hotmail account. Every time I opened up it insisted I log into Microsoft, following which I had lost my Hotmail stuff.  Any ideas ?

Didn't this happen in 2013 and Hotmail users were moved to Outlook.com? What happens when you try to login at Outlook.com?
