Virgin tv price hike

Despite my contract i got notice of a £4.69 a month hike taking the sky/broadband/phone up to an eye-watering £85 a month. There was a right to cancel which i’ve just done... they did offer a £20 per month discount so if anyone else is in this position it’s worth a phone call.

I am just intrigued. Why are you so keen on cheese paring on your cable television provider, yet you are prepared to pay twice the going rate on beer at somewhere as plastic as the Ealing Park Tavern, and promote it?

Is "Which" magazine sad? Is Moneysavingexpert.com sad? Is spending twice as much at the EPT sad? Would you consider paying twice as much for your mortgage? Would you buy a higher priced mortgage from someone who told you that they shot the trophies in the walls of their office even though they had a "hired from xyz prop company" labels on them?

Which is sadder, someone who goes to the trouble of haggling with Virgin TV and then starting a thread over £20 a month, or someone who repeatedly goes to somewhere like the EPT that is overcharging them for £40 during a nightly session once a week and then laughing behind their backs as they count the money in the till for fake fish and trophies?There is also a difference between cheap and low cost. If you want fake trphies and lies accompanying them, go EPT!

neil you are a sad man! I do recommend going to the ept with an open mind... and compared to a sit down gasto it's good value. if you want cheap cheap you have a choice elsewhere.

Just pray that it never fails, I've had both and Humax support is worse than useless when we had two hard disk failures. Panasonic on the other hand were amazing when we had a reception problem.

we have a humax.... works just like the sky/virgin box... doddle to set-up...recommended

It's what my daughter did when they moved into their new home.The Panasonic box however is far better than the Humax.

I've got sky and now a lot of friends are suggesting I cancel the contract and buy a humax Freesat box. No fees and simply connects to the sky dish

Mine don't come in plain packaging but in gaudy reds and purples with Virgin livery....But do you live in a cabled road, or area ?I should have added that all the small print is on the back of the envelopes.The envelopes I get, from the outside resemble holiday brochures (white A4 B4), Barclaycard Statements (white DL), Electricity and gas bills(various) letters from the Pension Service in Belfast (brown C5), etc etc.Maybe they've only just started on you, and are testing your resistance.michael adams

Mark Star explainedif you've got an 18 month contract the price should be fixed... they were back after 6 months for moreMy road is cabled and I get begging letters from Virgin - begging me to join - on an almost weeklybasis. All disguised as something else. On the bigA4 coloured brochures they send me, the small print takes up half of the back page as well as bigwodges at the bottom of every other page as well.Par for the course with Branson, even if he's onlyperiphally connected with them nowadays, mainly through royalty payments for the brand name.michael adams...

Ditch the TV package and Sky or Virgin and just go for something like Plusnet for the broadband and phone and get a freesat or freeview recorder Like a Tivo or Skyplus box.Apart from the diminishing sport, I've found I've not missed it at all. All the channels and programmes we used to watch can still be found.After all, just 30 years ago we still had just 4 channels and that was just as good

hi phili'm going to have a period without and rely on other sources. we kept the phone and broadband for £22 a month... it's the principle of the thing.. if you've got an 18 month contract the price should be fixed... they were back after 6 months for more

Thanks Mark. Who are or were you considering moving to? I've got a week to decide whether to accept a £3 per month hike on a bill of only about £22pcm for landline and broadband.
