Dementia Centres

Quite unbelievable that Ealing like Camden is closing centres for Dementia Centres.This at a time when Dementia is increasing fourfold in the population and affecting younger ages.  Odds are you will know more than one suffererIt is the top priority of not just this government but world governments irrespective of political standings to tackle the causes of these conditions and increase and improve the already wholly inadequate care of which this country and this borough alone seriously lags behind on.Too many of Ealing's GPs are utterly useless at dealing with dementia and cannot cope with the volume of existing afflicted patients. Far too much effort. One of my own family is a local GP and we are appalled by her attitude to dementia patients which includes her own mother. It does not auger well for anyone local with this one way illness.Why is it always Labour Councils that do this?  Is it purely to score political points? It certainly seems that way.The leader of Ealing Council needs to seriously think about his future as a politician.Hopelessly ineffective in dealing with Hospital A&E closures but clearly hopeless in dealing with an area he can be effective in.  Maybe he is busy converting one of his properties into a dementia help centre.

If they simply cut completely all the political based stuff like seminars and conferences on banal and junket based circuses they would save a fortune.As well as a close look at just how expensive council tendering processes are and poor the results are. Again not helped by idiots who think they are clever meddling without any other thought than how it will enhance their party and political career.Hasn't really worked though has it?

I have never been a fan of party politics at a local level but there is little denying that every time we have a Labour administration in Ealing there is a period of profligate spending followed by cuts which, of course, are never the fault of the incumbents.Yes there are swinging cuts in the local government grant but other councils have managed without cutting services to the most vulnerable.

The uncomfortable bit is simply that having a social conscience and a belief in social values has become reason enough NOT to vote Labour.I never thought I would come to that conclusion and it makes me sad, but it is unfortunately quite true.

It is truly puzzling that the Labour led Council is pushing ahead with the closure of day centres for the most vulnerable residents, while blithely spending £££ on a QC led review on NHS services. What can they be thinking?
