Rose Garden in Walpole

I suspect it would be easier for the council to put a café in than worry about maintaining the rose garden.  Unfortunately this is the way forward.  They have to spend money wisely or find a way to make a good return by leasing or selling.  If there is enough support why not make it a community rose garden which obviously runs with volunteers.  I would not like to see the garden go but unfortunately that is what they call progress! We do live in a society full of self importance and greed these days and too many unwilling to put their money where their mouth is!

If the rose garden next to the Manor house goes, we would miss it greatly.  In our opinion, we don't need a cafe built there because there are umpteen cafes so very near, but the rose garden has always been a pleasure and an asset to the neighbourhood - we'll miss it terribly.

But I am really not sure this is easy or money wisely spent - also this is just Capital costs; there then is the 'gamble' if it will get used and make a profit or cost money.TOTAL project cost: £10,52M.Ealing Council funding: £4.14MHow much does it cost to tend roses vs the pleasure it brings to those who cannot/do not have gardens?I like the community approach idea - is anyone listening, Ealing Today?
