Southall My Southall.

I sincerely hope and pray that my home town area will find a politician to stop the gradual decline of Southall in 2015. We have already ended the year by a few of us being told by local councillors that they are not there to act as someones secretary by taking up a complaint on their behalf.The way they put it is " We are not here to be private secretary to a person bringing a complaint: write a letter to the concerned authority yourselves, as they will not listen to any of us."The 0ne metre pavement on a point in the road is always heaped up with a Pile of Rubbish, and the action the council thought of is to STICK A NOTICE ALONGSIDE OF THE UNCOLLECTED RUBISH HEAP, WHICH READS: THE DUMPING OF RUBBISH IS ILLEGAL. THE PENALTY IS A FINE OF £50,000.00 AND OR 5 YEARS IMPRISONMENT.Nobody takes the slightest bit of Notice of the threat.It has become a farce.People of my age group (Over 80) have to avoid other hazards along this road . At the opposite side of the road Rain Water drips freelyon to ones head as the covered are of the Yard OF SOMEONES PROPERTY has been extended up to the narrow pavement .No down drainpipe to control the flow. Are we asking for too much of our Hard pressed politicians to help us .It has been over 8 weeks  since several of the residents complained.

Yoel Gordon who is, I believe, a very senior Labour Party official. Hopefully, he could speak to the councillors who felt that they are not being listened to by officers. Cllr. Gordon definitely took up cases for his constituents in a neighbouring Hanwell Ward and for instance attended the 26th November 2014 Planning Committee to represent objectors to the Hanwell Clock Tower Mews case, where he spoke in a very forceful manner to support the community members who had contacted him.If you check out the topic that I started in this Forum entitled "Planning Manager Misdirects Committee on Hanwell case", you will see more about this.It shouldn't be a case of the tail wagging the dog  - Councillors are entitled to seek answers from Council staff.Happy New Year!

We have a similar problem, where rubbish is dumped despite the no dumping sign. It is just round the corner from my road but there are houses opposite so they must see something surely? The latest is a massive dismantled wardrobe.  Funny there is a house being done up pretty much opposite...just saying.

The response times are slower, we have fewer environment officers, Streetwatchers department was amalgamated with another department, we don't have any particular person to report to.It took 11 days for a dumped sofa/bed to be removed from my street. I was injured after falling over this item, no-one admits responsibility.We now have a dumped settee in the next street! It looks more like a third world country, missed collections, rubbish all over the streets. Disgraceful!

Yes Ed, that's the place - refuse and rubbish gets surruptiously dumped there by people during the night when few are around to see. Also in nearby Lammas Park Gardens between the two parks where there aren't any houses in the vacinity, so people can't be seen. I've seen them dumping illegally and driving off at speed.

Gerry - are you thinking of Church Lane between the tennis courts in Lammas Park and the other side of the road?If so it's been reported to the council endless times. They would rather waste tax payers money clearing up the mess than putting a globe cctv camera on one of the lamposts for a month to get a good photo of who is doing it.I rather suspect it's someone local and is doing up a property based on the series of things that have been left there - but for the sake of installing a temporary camera for a month (cost - a few £hundred if that) the council would rather waste thousands sending contractors to clear the mess up each week. We shouldn't be surprised at this though - Ealing was one of the dirtiest London borough for many years under the last Labour administration to 2007 ish - Jason Stacey and the Conservative Councillors swept them aside and swept up the borough, but we voted in Julian Bell and his team of useless Labour councillors back in and low and behold Ealing is filthy once more.

Mention of illegal rubbish dumping - we are starting to have the problem in Ealing. There's a longish stretch of road not overlooked by houses, where at night people in cars dump boxes and other household rubbish and quickly drive away. Its getting to be a real messy problem on the pavements there.
