A very well-written article.I love the 'polarisation' of approaches in dealing with 'fidgety' children ranging from nothing (I, like you, always say something if a child is in obvious distress), through the 'stuff a dummy in' brigade (who annoy me intently when they do this to 2 and 3 year old children destroying their 'bite') who appear incapable of actually talking to their children, through to the 'be quiet and mummy will but you a babyccino'. The later, admittedly are far more common in Chiswick when the au-pair has a day off.
