GCSE NHS Questions

Question (1)In Prime Minister's Questions yesterday David Cameron promised in an answer to Andy Slaughter's question about the A&E crisis in this area,"There would be more.......beds in Ealing and Northwick Park Hospitals."The Shaping a Healthier Future proposals currently adopted and progressing outlined a cut in bed provision in in North West London of 600 beds mainly due to the loss of Ealing and Charing Cross Hospitals.Indeed Dr Mark Spencer launched the SaHF proposals by stating that London is overbedded. Who is right Dr Mark Spencer or David Cameron?

Thanks for that useful comment Phil.Collect 26 bonus marks.Now for question (3)(a)With the current local crisis in A & E and in GP provision can you explain why a 23-person delegation from our CCGs made up of health officials, GPs, and patient representatives flew out on a week long study tour today of Boston, New York, Baltimore and Richmond to learn how US doctors cut hospitalization rates. (25 marks)(b)The taxpayer has funded this tour to the tune of £120,000. Discuss if this acceptable. (5 marks)(c)Who from Ealing CCG went on this trip (5 marks for each correct name)

Arthur,I had an interesting conversation with a mental health professional recently.  They indicated that the system itself may well be at the root of lack of integration, and even lack of care, given to those with mental health issues.  They thought that the system effectively encourages GPs to hand off mental health cases to the mental health system and wash their hands of them.  Unlike other health issues the GP ceases to be manager of services delivered to the patient, and the GP has little incentive to follow up or offer continuing care.  As a result patients who are labelled as mental health cases get very poor general medical services and suffer poor health and early death as a result.  It seems like the health system, which is now explicitly GP led through the CCGs, needs to change so that GPs own all their patients and their outcomes, irrespective of their mental health status.  It also seems that Ealing CCG hasn't started to change its mindset yet!

Question(2)Many of us have received a twenty page leaflet from the NWLondon Clinical Commissioning Groups posted through our doors launched by Dr Mohini Parmar. Given that Mental Health is very common, (Is it 1 in 5 of us who will suffer from some sort of mental health problem at some stage of our lives?), why is there no mention of it in this comprehensive publication? Please discuss in no more than 250 words.

Probably a colleague of Dr. F.W Woolworth, Dr Freeman Hardy-Willis and Dr. Timothy White.These faceless experts of great and superior intelligentsia seem to have er..got it wrong.Even a cashier in Poundland could have spotted their arrogance was flawed.along with most ordinary people who use the NHS in some capacity or other.What is really needed is a clear education on responsible use of the NHS, Tight restrictions on those who have not contributed NI for less than 5 years including maternity facilities.Even then with a rapidly escalating local population facilities will still be stretched.
