Lammas park play centre to close?

Bit sad to hear the council are planning to consult users about closure of the play centre in Lammas park. My mum took me here when I was small and we now take our daughter too - what a shame it would be to lose it!

Dreadful, It is always packed out with Mums. Another snipe at the local population perceived by Councillors as "too wealthy for such a facility"There are quite a few with a few bob around here now but it is far from the vast majority who are of more modest means, getting tarred by the same brush.So rather than close it why not make it a parent funded facility? Just like for example a church playgroup?

This is awful. How can a council spend £2.7 million pounds (half of £5.4 million) on grass, trees and ponds in Walpole Park and close this asset. Digging that hole/swamp in Lammas Park must have cost £60,000. Our grandson uses that play centre regularly.It is a lifeline. Is it being closed because this is an affluent area? Or do the twee Parks Department not like the ugly hut in "their" park?  Priorities priorities!

Yes Jim, most sad.  We take our grandchildren there and our children played in Lammas Park when they were toddlers(more than 50 years ago!), as we live next to the park. We're sad that the play centre might be threatened - we'll see what transpires. Sad times.
