Radbourne Walk - Ealing Council Grant

You might have heard that the council are offering grants to spruce up bits of Ealing.We have put forward our plans for the Radbourne Walk - the country lane that runs along the length of the Northfield Allotments from St John's Church in Mattock Lane to Occupation Road.http://bit.ly/1tyWOLtIf you'd like to see our proposal then we have set up a webpage (it's on the spacehive site as directed by the council). If you like our ideas and would like to offer some support - please leave a comment at the bottom of the project page. But we want to do more.  We are also keen to hear your suggestions. At the moment we have 72 people on the waiting list. The person on the top of the list has be waiting patiently since May 2011.This is one reason why we set up the volunteer scheme. It gives people on the waiting list a chance to have a go and see if this gardening lark really is for them. Many new plot holders drop out after only one year. They just don't realise what hard work an allotment is and how time consuming it can be. It is sad so many drop out because it is hugely rewarding too. It's cheaper than the gym and you get the fringe benefits of fresh veg too.I look after the waiting list and happy to add your name if you, or anyone else on the forum, is interested.That said anyone can come along to our volunteer gardening days. We provide all the tools and gloves - plus tea and cake.  It doesn't matter if you're not experienced - we have plenty of plot holders who also come along and supervise. The Radbourne Walk work is a splendid neighbourhood project. Good luck with your funding request.BTW, are there any allotments or part-allotments available on the Ealing Dean site or is there a waiting list please?
