Ward meetings are not taken seriously?
Are Ward meetings serving their purpose if the Councillors cannot be regular at Meetings published for each Ward.? Since the Area Committee meetings were done away with, the ward meetings were scheduled to be twice each month on a chosen day of the week. Now it has changed to ONCE a Week. If it takes place at all, is a matter of doubt.Does this happen at every ward councillors surgery? Does each Party follow the same attitude in keeping the doors open grudgingly for Voters comments or Voices to be heard .I do believe the voters finding themselves turning up only to find that no one bothered to turn up to take the meeting , now stay away too.Perhaps the Area Committees could be re-started . It took place ONCE A MONTH and the meetings were generally informative and every citizen attending knew what was happenning around them in the Area. Any Councillor regularly absent was noticed . Any promise or plans made was conidered for its impact in a neighbouring ward. What would be the objection to NOT have such AREA committee meetings.I hope there IS an answer. This year Boris ,Nick Clegge, Ken, etc seem keen to be heard more each week than local political leaders.
