Living near Oldfield Circus

Hi. Long time reader, first-time poster. I was hoping someone who knows the Oldfield Circus area well could help me. I have been living in Greenford for a couple of years but I'm in the process of buying a property on Wadham Gardens near Oldfield Circus. I don't know the area well but up until now I had got the impression it was quite a nice area, and had seemed a quiet residential street. However on visiting the Oldfield Circus shops today I noticed a fair amount of street drinkers around the shopping area for the first time which set the alarm bells ringing a little bit.Please can someone who knows the area better than me comment on what it's like living there - for better or worse. I have a wife and young daughter so obviously want to know what we're getting ourselves in for.ThanksArtur

Correct, it's a nightmare especially if you hit it when a bus is trying to get through.  There are ways around it though and most residents know the detour.

Oldfield Circus from Currey Rd. down to Oldfield lane is  a rat run and has been for years its especially bad in the rush hour

Oldfield Circus seemed OK to me the last time I there. Sadly, street drinkers are with us where there are shops that sell cheap booze - its a fact of city life.

Hi ArturI used to live on the Wood End estate which is just round the corner which contains a lot of social housing.  To be honest, it's the not the nicest of areas.  Plenty of status symbol dogs and teens on noisy mopeds.  I would have expected Wadham Gardens to have been quite quiet though given it's location.  It's certainly not a rat run.  Oldfield Circus has a great chippy (The Codfather), a very good butchers and a very popular Polish deli (assuming you are Polish going by your name).  The GP's on Girton Rd (Barnabus Medical Centre) is also very good indeed.Yes, there are usually always street drinkers on the circus but, as far as I saw, they don't stray from there and I never had any issues.
