Car Plus: the garage at the junctionof Station Road and Uxbridge Road, Hanwell

I was cycling through the bollards at York Avenue into Station Road when one of the drivers at the Car Plus garage attempted to do a high speed maniac u-turn using York Avenue as the turning point to get back into Station Road. The  bonnet of his car missed me by no more than five feet. He found it hilarious and screamed at me "What's your problem?" after I'd began screaming at him.  He felt it was right to mockingly apologise.  A lovely passer-by called Una witnessed the driving and the apology. She suggested reporting it. I got hold of one of the police officers standing at the Clock Tower to take action. In the course of his investigations it came to light that the driver admitted having no insurance to drive the vehicle, or even held a driving licence.If what I'm told is correct the car belonged to a customer. So you can place the garage,  Car Plus is immediately to the left of the Duke of York pub which is behind the Clock Tower in Hanwell.

Nigel, you think any insurer is going to pay out if the business lets drivers without licenses move their cars around?! You can't be serious!I had a run in with a guy going into the same garage the other day, he did a massive u-turn in the road whilst on his mobile, then nearly reversed into another vehicle when he didn't make it.He was quite nasty to me when I went over to have a word.I don't know if he was an employee or a customer but I wish I've had the noodle at the time to go and get an officer from the clock tower...

It's a long fall down from that high horse Ben - careful.I only made the point that employees of garages are often covered by a blanket motor trader policy held their employers he may still not have held insurance in his own name but did not need to.If he ne at all then throw the book at him and it's a clear warning to anyone who places a car into their 'care' that the vehicles may well be uninsured while with them.

Nigel, Stop trying to be a Mr-know-it-all! Yes,  there is such a thing called a motor trader policy, but re-read what I wrote:"the driver of the vehicle admitted to having no insurance to drive the vehicle."To be a member of The Royal Society of Medicine, in Walpole Street,  one has to be a qualified doctor.

Ben, did they nick him? I do hope so as there is no excuse for having licence although insurance could be covered by a Motor trader's policy.
