Police tape in west Ealing

Driving through at around 08:30 this morning I noticed that the block of shops between Dean Gardens and the Broadway Food market was taped off with blue police tape and then further down, towards Hanwell, a bus was stopped by Brighthouse and, it too, was completely taped off with police in attendance.Does anyone know why?

PaulI used the MPS figures for the last year and 2003-2013.The trend in all areas has ben downwards save for that one category.

Overall crime is significantly down with one exception and that is 'violence against the person' which is up year-on-year, from MPS figures, by 20%

I'd love to try and understand their mindset, the internets is full of em but when the question is asked they slink off!

Much of which many people previously, had been blissfully unaware.So that there's not necessarily any more crimebeing committed, only a growing awareness of crime. Which then feeds a fear in the minds of the publicwhich then leads/allows the police to over-react by being rather more cautious than is merited by the situation - taping off entire streets, etc.in order to gather forensic evidence which may play a marginal role, if any, in any subsequent trial.  michael adams...

For me Ealing as a whole is not as safe and friendly as it used to be but I would say that goes for most if not all areas of London and beyond. Still some very good people around but not as many as they used to be that's for sure. There has never been so many people living in West London so I guess there is more chance of crime in the area.

Just call me an old (but young at heart) git!There were places in Ealing and Greenford John that I simply wouldn't go to on my own in the early 70's, I guess there still are but I'm wiser now :-)

John, I guess I'm a bit older and it used to be far, far worse.Groups 'cruising' looking for a fight, shotguns used in Northolt by a group of rockers to shoot out the lights at a 'skinhead' disco.What we didn't have was an underlying drug culture of anything like the scale that it is now and a drunk on the street was an object of wonder as it was so rare.

Just see that Ealing Gazette website has story. A stabbing on the bus at 5.50 this morning. One man is police custody, other in hospital.

The night bus N207 was parked down by Morrisons (old Blockbuster store) police taped up and police car in front, around mid-day today.
